Summary: Hotel was in a lovely setting and had some lovely views/walks around the grounds and surrounding fields. Breakfast was brilliant and the sauna and jacuzzi were empty so felt like real luxury having them to myself. For me it was let down by the restaurant and the service. Took 1 hour for a medium rare steak and chips on a quiet midweek stay. People that entered the restaurant after me were served their meals before me. The menu is pretty misleading with the veg options and I ended up being charged £10 two small dishes of greens and carrots and after £30 for a chewy steak and hard fries it was another £5 on top for a sauce… Could be a top hotel and due to its location in the middle of nowhere it could be a bit of a hidden gem but needs some attention to detail and some work in areas.
