Positive: About an hour and 10 mins north of Malaga is this amazing little property, deep in the Andalusian countryside, it’s a magical place, beautiful scenery, flowers and olive groves, a ten minute drive from iznajar, with breathtaking reservoir, castle and cobblestone streets, with blue flowerpots in pretty squares, and a freshwater beach, or to Rute, great if you need a good supermarket, both places are great for tradition food. The property it’s self, don’t be put off with the location, if you want a rural retreat that is well located to visit cordoba, Ronda, Grenada or Seville all are drivable for the day, we did the Caminito del Rey ravine and hydroelectric tour which was an hour and a quarter drive and worth it! We also visited cordoba and Ronda they were just incredible places steeped in history with sights that just blow your mind. The house is beautiful with terraces that include a sun patio, outdoor eating, a inner courtyard and a jacuzzi, everything is well kept, well supplied and comfortable, the hosts Claire and Alan are really informative and so welcoming, the views are magnificent and the sunset from the jacuzzi is stunning. If you want a rural escape to breathe and relax it’s perfect or like us a quiet place from which to explore inland Andalusia. We loved this quirky traditional Spanish house.
Negative: The location is rural, don’t be put off by the journey the roads are fantastic and it’s easy to find from Malaga, the roads are engineering marvels, the drive was incredible and the roads were a pleasure, the last right turn to get to the property is tight, you go into a rougher road and then down a very steep driveway into the accommodation, this first time was a little worrying, we drove a seat León and it managed it fine, after that you get the hang of it. We had a few mosquito bites, take some deet, there is repellent for the house in the cupboard under the sink, I’d advise spraying the bedroom, but this was probably just because there was rain before we went, I wouldn’t let anything put you off this wonderful place.
Summary: Magical, fairytale cottage with jacuzzi in the Andalusian olive grove hills.
