Summary: Faded grandeur is the phrase which most springs to mind. In its heyday this must have been a magnificent private residence but maintaining buildings like this requires very deep pockets. It is a 3 star hotel and is deserving of that category. We had a deluxe bedroom. In most other properties this would have been marketed as a suite for we had two large rooms, a spacious king sized bedroom & a comfortable lounge area. Breakfast, cooked to order, is served in two magnificent first floor rooms at well spaced tables. Dinner is served in the ground floor bistro. The menu is typical bar food but our meal was tasty & nicely presented. Reception staff were super friendly & helpful, in contrast to one of the bar staff who was curt to the point of rudeness. Above all this is a place of peace & tranquility set in lovely grounds and surrounded by magnificent countryside. We would return.
