Positive: The hosts were very accommodating and met us to hand over the keys. Location great and right by a beach. The accommodation was really good, spacious, new and modern. The kitchen was well equipped for a self catering holiday. Outdoors is a courtyard with table and chairs. Also a utility room with washing machine, airer and iron. There is a restaurant/bar round the corner. The host provides beach towels & beach umbrella/wind break which we are particularly grateful. Complimentary coffee pods, water & biscuits. The fresh lilies were such a homely touch. We hired a car for €100 for a week so travelled to other beaches. Esposende is really nice with fine sand and a bar area/toilets. There is a board walk that stretches for miles on the Camiño Portuguese route. We visited the lovely city of Porto by park and ride on the metro rather than drive which may have been a little stressful! We parked free at Sao Bras then bought Andante card at the machine priced 11euro each which is good value as it takes 50 mins to Trindade then change train for 2 stops to arrive at the historic part of Sao Bento. Here we enjoyed a meal by the river and then a 50 minute boat bridge cruise €20. (I think metro was a 24 hour ticket as working out the zone thing was complicated.)Porto definitely worth visiting but like most Cities eating out is expensive. Overall lovely holidays and would definitely recommend Areias do Norte to anyone looking to relax and enjoy the gorgeous coast of Portugal.
