Feel the cares of this world drift away as you relax in this waterfront house on Bald Head Island. Enjoy a relaxing morning coffee from the upper deck as you watch the sunrise over the beautiful marsh. At the end of the day, walk out on the Keepers Landing private dock and enjoy your favorite beverage as you watch the sunset over the salt marsh and Old Baldy. This light, airy, and newly renovated home, which comfortably sleeps 8, features 4 spacious bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.
The upstairs master bedroom features a king size bed and a sofa for your comfort. The lower level includes the remaining bedrooms. Bedroom two includes two twin beds. Bedroom three features a queen size bed with lots of natural lighting. Access to the rear porch can be obtained through this bedroom. Bedroom four offers two twin beds. This room is also adorned with a charming baywindow seat and access to the covered screened porch.
The second level of the home features open dining and living areas, which showcase cathedral ceilings, beautiful hardwood floors, and new couches, chairs, rugs and décor. State of the art kitchen is fully stocked and includes a separate wine refrigerator. Enjoy the spacious living roomorlounge on the balcony as you take in all the sights and sounds of nature from the salt marsh. This home is equipped with two flat screen TVs (one above the fireplace in the living room [46''] and the other in the twin bedroom [32'']). DVD players, cable TV with access to your own Netflix and Amazon accounts, unlimited long distance calling and high speed wireless Internet access are also included.
The rear of the house features a screened porch on the lower level and anupper level covered balcony for relaxing or outdoor dining. Relax by walking the palmetto lined boardwalk to the private community dock for boating, kayaking, fishing and crabbing. Take in the salt air as you go for a stroll in the cool of the evening.
This home is a short walk or quick cart trip to East beach, and convenient to the Shoals club and the “market.”

Summary: BHI is a great place for a vacation and there are limited rentals, which is why Carolina Dream can command such a high weekly cost. At the same time, the house's value doesn't stand-up to the premium it charges. In brief: (1) the bedding is subpar and needs to be replaced; (2) the dishwasher had to be reset 5 times via the fuse box; (3) both golf carts had difficulty charging and one had to be towed back for service work after it completely shut down one night on the way to dinner; and (4) the golf carts in general need to be replaced or serviced - i.e., new shocks, breaks, and tires. It's 20+-year old house and it needs more investment from the owner if they want to continue to charge a premium. At the same time, the island is a wonderful place to get away for a week or more. East beach has to be one of the top 10-15 beaches on the east coast - the beach is long, not crowded, and the water is beautiful. We started going to the island in the mid-90s and I will say that the island also needs to invest in its infrastructure - e.g., the roads, signage, and store experience are exactly the same as they were in 1996 and 1997. I mean all of the above in a constructive way; that is, we spent thousands on this vacation and I want you as prospective renters to be aware of the pros and cons.
