The Space:
This is the perfect spot for business travelers seeking a local experience, and couples visiting the Nations Capital on their next adventure. The entire space is newly constructed, and all of the suite’s amenities are brand new.
Nestled behind a private residence in the heart of the city, our bright, standalone carriage house can comfortably sleep 2 guests in a queen sized `Murphy bed` (allows guests to tuck the bed out of the way and back into the wall if necessary; the ultimate in space-saving convenience!). An additional 2 guests are accommodated via the sofa bed, which expands to reveal a queen sized bed.
The property has sleek, built in custom furniture to maximize the space, with warm wood tones it creates a serene and calming space to unwind. The communal living area is designed for decompressing after a day of sightseeing; there is a TV with streaming capabilities, and a comfy couch, perfect for enjoying a good book on rainy afternoons.
Decorated with the traveler in mind, guests can expect a serene and impeccably clean apartment to call their own. A laptop friendly workspace is included - ideal for the traveling executive here on business, or your average traveler hoping to get some work done, when taking a break from pleasure!
Hoping to enjoy some fresh air? There is a small outdoor dining table with seating for 2 guests, ideal for enjoying your morning cup of coffee while planning your next adventure.
Stock up at a nearby market and take advantage of the modern kitchen to prepare a breakfast or lunch before you head out the door. There is an exandable dining table; ideal for enjoying meals together and planning tomorrow`s activities. Just outside your door rests a plethora of D.C.`s finest and trendiest restaurants & bars so there`s no shortage of options to enjoy some local flavor!
The unit is completely separate and has private access with assigned parking immediately outside of the unit. The apartment neighbors Crispus Attucks Park, and is short walk to all the Shaw, Logan Circle, U and 14th St nightlife, in addition to easy access to the downtown attractions including the National Mall, the Convention Center, the Capitol and White House, etc.
Guest Access:
Guests have this entire carriage house to themselves and will be sent access to unlock the private gate and door prior to check-in.
The Neighborhood:
Bloomingdale / Shaw neighborhood is a trendy neighborhood, popular with families and the younger DC crowd. It`s residential, but has great access to downtown. If you want to stay in the neighborhood, stroll a few blocks down the magnificent tree-lined streets to find neighborhood favorites like Red Hen, Aroi Thai, Bacio Pizzeria, Big Bear Cafe, Showtime, The Royal, and so much more! Pop down to Yoga District for your daily workout, the (secret...shhh!) Crispus Attucks Park for a picnic, or head over to Sylvan Cafe for coffee and a quick treat. And there are many more great food options in the NoMA / Gallaudet and Bloomingdale neighborhoods. We provide a property guide stock full of our local favorites!
Getting Around:
No need for a car at this location! Both the NoMa-Gallaudet U Metro Station (red line) and the Shaw / Howard University Station (yellow and green lines) are a short (15/20 minute) walk from the home. Buses are plentiful in the area and you can catch 5 different bus lines within 4 blocks of the house. For those looking for something more active, guests can WALK to the White House, Smithsonian Museums, and so much more in just over half an hour. DC National Airport is a short 15 minute ride/uber from the home.
Our home is a mere 10 minute drive from DC’s downtown attractions, Capital One Arena, and the historic monuments.
Uber/Lyft easily or utilize nearby public transportation, including the DC metro bus (G8 and 80), metro rail (Shaw / Green line), and Capital Bikeshare – all of which are a short walk away.
If you want to stay close to home, we are just a few blocks from Bloomingdale’s great local cafes (Big Bear, Windows Market), restaurants (Red Hen, Tyber Creek), and bars (Boundary Stone, Pub & the People) – and you are a 20 minute walk from the U Street corridor, 14th Street, and Shaw.
We’re a 10 minute drive from Union Station and about 15-20 minutes from Ronald Reagan airport.
