The “Barn” is a Tudor style structure originally built in 1926 along with the adjoining main house that burned down in 1949, and the only part of which that remains today is the now renovated servant’s quarters. The Tudor Barn was used as a cow and horse barn until the 1940s and was recently designated an historic monument by the Mason County Historical Society. In the 2000s the Tudor Barn was fully restored and converted to summer living accommodation for family and friends.
The house is surrounded by over 200 acres of private property, permanently preserved as a natural area with the guidance of the Land Conservancy of West Michigan. This includes over 1100 feet of frontage on Hamlin Lake, along with diverse forested and meadow parcels, marshes, swamps, ponds and streams. This provides natural habitats for a wide diversity of plants and wildlife. In addition, there are several miles of private roads and paths to explore on foot or by bicycle.
