The Gale House--built in 1924 for geologist Hoyt Gale. Built when Los Angeles opened its first Opera and George Gershwin penned Rhapsody in Blue, this was a time that burst with creativity. A great example of the California style, this onestory Spanish ranch house sits halfway up its 26,000 square foot lot to take advantage of the amazing downtown and sunset views as well as the breeze that still cools off Eagle Rock most afternoons. At the top of the lot there is a guest house (permitted as a private library) with even better views. And at the foot of the hill is the 3-car garage with studio apartment above. The driveway curves up to the main house. A series of French doors and windows stand behind a wide front porch and open into a dramatic living room that has a fireplace, hardwood floors, a built-in bookcase, to a dining room large enough for the entire extended family & lined with windows, multiple daybeds, and 2 builtin china cabinets.
The house also features a large whirlpool hot tub and yoga studio with a high end sauna.
The main house has a large master bedroom with a King Size Bed. As well as two smaller rooms with twin size beds.
The cottage up top has a queen size bed, full bathroom and kitchen.
