Summary: We got a warm and friendly welcome as soon as we entered the bar. Although the pub is traditional and in a perfect setting by the canal it clearly needs updating as did our room. The benches are rotting away and the exterior is in need of a general tidy up. Our room was very dated and the beds old and uncomfortable. The bathroom was an adequate size though the shower was mouldy and hardly any hot water. We had to go back to the bar area which is downstairs and outside through a courtyard area to get a remote control for the TV and teabags as there was only 1. We didn't have breakfast as we stayed over for an early morning flight from Birmingham which was very handy being only 20 mins away. We had an evening meal which was Malaysian themed but unfortunately they ran out of my choice very early and I did settle for an alternative which was freshly cooked and tasty. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly but the pub itself and rooms definitely need refinishing.
