About this space
Cozy 1840s farmhouse with original wide plank floors, exposed beams, hand painted stenciled borders on the walls, historic barn and lots of space. Hiking, equestrian, birding & cross-country skiing on property and at state forest accessible from the property. Nearby downhill skiing, lakes, community events and seasonal cultural events including concerts, summer playhouses and lectures.
Sleeps 9. Dedicated workspace with a full-size desk, high speed internet and this library has lots of books, puzzles and games for all ages. Fenced in backyard for pets or children and large mudroom for outdoor sports equipment.
There are three bedrooms and a loft. The downstairs bedroom has a king-size bed, rocker and bureau. Upstairs there is a bedroom with a queen-size bed and bureau. The other upstairs bedroom has a double bed, twin bed and a sofa bed (that is not counted when we say the house sleeps 9). At the top of the stairs there is an open loft with a daybed (twin) that also has a trundle bed that rolls out from beneath the daybed (twin). Bedding and towels are provided.
The kitchen has new appliances including a dishwasher, washer, dryer and microwave. We also have a full-size oven and large refrigerator with water in the door and two icemakers. There is a folding table stored in the laundry room to accommodate large group meals. The kitchen is stocked with basic kitchen tools and an electric drip coffee maker.
The detached, historic barn was enclosed in the 1950s and became the breeding site for the foundation line of Lipid Morgan horses. It is still a working barn, available for short-term stable leasing for guests' horses.
Guests have access to the entire house, pastures without grazing horses and direct access to Fox Forest. There is plenty of parking on the premises for several cars and horse trailers.
Hillsboro is a vibrant community, especially in summer and fall, but there's lots to do year-round. We are adjacent to a 1,445 acre forest to hike, bird watch and ride your horse. Downtown has craft and antique shops and a great pub. There are community events year-round. Check for concerts in the park, music at the pub, community dinners and lectures. Don't miss a trip to Fuller Library down the street, it was a NH Governor's mansion donated to the town. Also check out the Hillsboro Historical Museum downtown and the beautiful stone bridges along the river that runs through town.
