Welcome to Five Hares Farm! The B&B is situated on an incipient, 12-acre permaculture homestead, with newly-planted nut and fruit orchards, pond, chickens, and beehives (note that the beehives are located far away enough from the building as not to pose any threat for those with allergies). While new to VRBO, we are experienced 5-star hosts with rave reviews (on another platform -- ahem).
The private guesthouse is a converted dairy barn near the owners’ main house. On the first floor, guests will find three, light-filled, peaceful bedrooms, each with queen bed, and 2 of the bedrooms have their own private attached full baths (third bedroom accesses common powder room). Upstairs, the vaulted loft space can be used for yoga sessions or movie night around a large-screen, Roku-enabled TV. Host a private family recital on the baby grand piano, or work at the workstation provided. High-speed internet and a dedicated work table are available for those who need to work away from the office. The sofabed upstairs (full size) can accommodate one to two sleepers as well. Steps down from the first floor take guests to a cozy but fully-equipped kitchen.
The B&B is situated three minutes by car from the heart of Germantown, with its well-known shopping and dining options, including delicious gourmet groceries and prepared foods from Otto’s Market and fine dining at Gaskin’s. Germantown is 10 minutes from Bard College to the south and Olana State Historic site to the north, 10 minutes from Hudson (with its famed Warren Street shops and restaurants), 15 minutes from Red Hook, and 20 minutes from historic Rhinebeck. Multiple farms and farmer’s markets, dining, shopping, outdoor, and cultural options abound in the area, making the Upper Hudson Valley a perfect area to visit all year round.
