NOTICE!!! Sequoia National Forest is now wide open after being closed for the past several months. Take advantage of all our beautiful hiking trails, Trail of 100 Giants opening in May, as well as many more beautiful locations to enjoy. Springtime is rapidly approaching and it is one of the most beautiful places to be during this season!
We are located in the Sequoia National Forest (not in or near the Sequoia National Park or Kings Canyon which is 3 hours away) in the heart of Camp Nelson. A long-time rental history, this cabin, formerly known as the Roberts' Retreat, is now called "The Manzanita Cabin." Located at an approximate elevation of 5000' on a secluded cul-de-sac surrounded by beautiful manzanita trees, oak trees, and pine trees and has WIFI, telephone, DVD & VCR players in master bedroom and livingroom. Recently remodeled with all new flooring, fresh paint, all new furniture, remodeled bathroom, this secluded cabin is sure to please. Livingroom has a huge used brick fireplace with a hearth and forced air heating throughout the cabin. 2 bedroom, 1 bath with a huge open kitchen with tons of counter and cabinet space, which opens up to the livingroom and dining space area. A queen sleeper sofa with memory foam mattress is located in the livingroom in front of the fireplace for extra sleeping space. The deck overlooks views of Slate Mountain, Redwood Grove of Giant Sequoias and Jordan Peak Lookout. Located only 1 mile from Belknap Campground and within walking distance to Nelsons Tavern and the Camp Nelson General Store. The cabin is also dog friendly, but please NO CATS. 20 minutes up Highway 190, a beautiful drive through the forest, brings you to 7200 foot elevation at Ponderosa, where there is a historic lodge open to the public with great food (breakfast, lunch & dinner), a full bar, entertainment and a gift shop. 1.5 miles past the lodge is the turn off for Dome Rock, a must see area, great for afternoon picnics and views of the entire Sierra Nevada Range. Trail of 100 Giants is another 15-20 minute drive continuing on Highway 190 and you will be amazed at the grove of Giant Sequoias that are located there. It has picnicing areas, no park fees, animals are welcome and parking is only $5.00....and without the crowds of the Sequoia National Park.
