5 Bedroom House with Laundry and Bedding
Just 1 hour drive from Boston, our large house sits in a tranquil, wooded area inside private trust land with access to 2 private swimming beaches, tennis and pickleball courts, 3 kayaks, and a sailing school all within easy walking distance. The house, perfect for large families, has everything you need and is hidden away on a substantial plot surrounded by trees. Cape Cod Canal Bike Trail and Shining Sea Bikeway are within easy reach as well as other amenities of Cape Cod.
The space
The house is arranged over 3 levels: on the ground level there is one master bedroom with full bath, one half-bath, 2 living rooms, an indoor dining area, a kitchen, a screened porch with a dining table and a deck with a breakfast/cocktail table. Downstairs has 2 bedrooms, a full bathroom, and utility room with washer and dryer. Upstairs are 2 bedrooms with a shared full bathroom and a balcony. There is a large lawn/garden area all around the house. Lawn has not been watered and is not exactly "lush" but still fine for kids to play on. Gas grill available outside.
Other things to note
The house was built in the 90s, and is in great shape. It is spacious, open, airy and light. Great for a family, with room for privacy for those who need it. It has not had major renovation except the addition of a large living room and half bath in the 2000s. The Cape is a humid place, and the downstairs rooms can get a bit musty until windows are opened and/or dehumidifier is turned on. You will have use of 3 well-maintained kayaks (plus paddles and life jackets), but you will need to transport them to one of the 2 Wings Neck Trust beaches with your own vehicle, and return them to our shed at the end of the stay. You also have access to 2 tennis courts that are also used as Pickleball courts. The property is on a neck of land that juts out into Buzzards Bay. Our 2 beaches are not ocean beaches with waves. The Bay is great for swimming, sailing and kayaking. One of them has a swimming dock to lounge on or for kids to jump off of. There is a very well-stocked neighborhood grocery store a mile and a half away. The drive to a really big grocery store is 20 - 30 minutes. One of our favorite activities is to bike to Woods Hole on the Shining Sea Bikeway, which is a 10 minute drive away. Bike rentals available at the beginning of the trail. We also love to kayak around Basset's Island, which has lovely sand beaches where you can enjoy the sun and a picnic. There is a large TV in one of the living rooms but we do not pay for cable or any other services. It does have the chord you need to connect your laptop, tablet or phone and watch streaming services. There is an indoor fireplace but it is not to be used.
