Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The location was great for us - very walkable into town, particularly using the Brownstone Trail which runs directly behind the hotel. We really enjoyed our visit to Bayfield. It’s a cute little hotel but unfortunately we apparently got the only room with zero outside relaxation space (despite there being vacancies). So if you can avoid room #1 (which is essentially part of a small house at the front of the property), it’s likely that it’s a very nice place to stay. We hauled a couple of plastic chairs down from the ice house to a backyard deck for a bit, but opted to go downtown and sit in the public park instead.

Negative: Room #1 was a bit tight, essentially a small hotel room with a king size bed and a very small table. Because there’s no other place to sit, most of our time was spent in the bed. The mattress is a bit soft, and based on sitting on it to put on clothes or tie my shoes, it seems to be worn out, not simply a soft mattress. The room is very well soundproofed, so that was a plus, as it’s quite close to the main road that comes into town. Since there are only 2 windows, one looking out over the parking spot and entrance to “the cottage room” and the other overlooking the walkway to unit #2, it was helpful to have quiet neighbors.
