Positive: The location was great as it was so close to the Pantheon and lots of restaurants and shops. Within walking distance to Trevi Fountain, a longer walk to the Spanish Steps. I took a Terravision bus from the airport to Roma Termini and from there the metro to Barberini. It was about .9 mile walk to the hotel from there but you do pass the Trevi Fountain on the way. On the way back, I chose to take a Taxi to Roma Termini since I was leaving at 5 am and didn’t know how safe it would be walking back to Barberini Metro. The taxi fare to the Metro was about $25 but well worth it plus it was raining!! Breakfast was very good and the staff was very kind.
Negative: My room was on the ground floor and had three floors (though small). When you enter the hotel, you have to push a button and the office unlocks the mail door which leads into an archway and the only room on the ground floor. I felt very safe but my room was cold. It was cold and rainy outside so with people coming and going all the time, the archway stayed cold. I turned the heat up as high as it would go but to no avail; I even called the manager who showed me where the thermostat was but it didn’t help. The room, though small, had three levels: the bathroom and kitchen were down one flight, the living room was on the main floor and the bedroom was on the top floor. The stairs are narrow and winding which didn’t bother me but thought I would mention it.
Summary: Good value for the money but try not to stay on the ground floor.
