Positive: This is a wonderful home very close to the NAU campus and downtown Flagstaff. Fantastic location. The home is furnished very nicely with great furniture and plenty of open space for a large family to relax. We loved the back porch which was shaded all the way through the entire morning and again in the evenings. We loved sitting out on the porch with our coffee in the morning and appetizers and drinks in the evenings. All linens on the beds were crisp and clean!!! The kitchen is beautifully done and my dad who worked in the copper mines in the old days fell in love with the custom copper sink - beautiful!
Negative: I would have given this stay an "Exceptional" rating but I could not because of the false advertising on the booking.com listing. The most important thing for me was central A/C. When I searched for properties on booking.com, I applied the filter for Air Conditioning. That feature was critical to me. This property turned up in the search results and I booked it thinking it would have Central AC as posted on their listing with booking.com. I read the booking.com property description very carefully and again, under the long list of property features, it clearly states "Air conditioning" on the list along with everything else the property offers. Then, after my credit card was charged for $1800, I received an email from Vacasa (the property management company) and in that email, it said "this property does not have Air Conditioning". Immediately, I called Booking.com who was useless and redirected me to Vacasa. The Vacasa customer service rep was rude and suggested I don't know how to read. I asked to speak with a manager and the manager confirmed there is no AC and their Vacasa profile says they have swamp coolers. Swamp coolers are not AC!!!! That is not the same thing! I could not cancel or modify b/c it was exactly 30 days out so Booking.com would not allow cancelling. Lying on the property posting then telling customers the facts AFTER charging them and AFTER the cancellation window is over was deliberate and very poor form! We were MISERABLE. Flagstaff was in the 90s while we were there and the swamp coolers were mobile and we had to move them around the house and refill with water every morning and night. My parents in their 80s could have gotten heat exhaustion or heat stroke. AWFUL!!
