Summary: This unit is located in a rather aged apartment complex. The location within Austin is great, but the community itself leaves much to be desired compared to other vacation rentals and hotels. As someone who is generally traveling across the country 3-4 days a week, I expect more from Vrbo. Communication is automated prior to check in, and very vague. When I called the unit operator, I wasn't even sure if I had called the right number. This person must have multiple units, because she had no idea who I was or where I was staying. The directions that were sent to me the day of check in, though, were very clear. The property was old and run down. There was trash everywhere. Parking was easy and plentiful. The unit itself has paper-thing walls and ceilings. I could hear the neighbor on one side singing in the shower and the neighbor on the other side's alarm go off. Groundskeepers had gas-powered equipment going at 7a on Tuesday. You are on the ground floor, so you do get headlights and people walking by. The kitchen didn't have much in the way of supplies--it would be difficult to cook a meal there despite having a standard apartment kitchen. The only knife was too dull to cut a lime. The coffeemaker is equipped with a mesh filter and coffee is provided. There is no clothing storage or hanging space. Additionally, the unit advertised an iron and ironing board, but there was none available. The washer and dryer were located on the patio, but I did not use them. There is no luggage rack or place to put a suitcase except on the floor. The unit is very dark and because of its location on the ground floor, opening the blinds is questionable. The operator asked if I wanted to extend my stay at a discount, and I contacted her to say yes as I didn't have additional accommodations arranged yet, and I never got a confirmation. I then received three e-mails reminding me to check out at 10a. The price was dirt cheap, but I definitely got what I paid for. I would have had better accommodations for a similar price at a hotel once you include the extremely high cleaning fee. Also, be prepared for an extremely high additional hold before checking in. In all, it's as mediocre three stars.
