Positive: Lumeria is a beautiful, tranquil Maui oasis. Unlike the big beachside resorts, it's very quiet and has so much unique character. The complimentary breakfast is very good, and I shared it with some of the stray cats who live on the grounds (I love cats!). The on-site restaurant was closed for dinner during my stay, but there are several good dinner options within a short driving distance. Speaking of driving, parking is also complimentary, which seems be a rarity on Maui. Lumeria has a great view of the ocean in a spot with hammocks and benches, perfect for quiet relaxation. I had a delightful massage on arrival, which I was grateful to be able to book after a series of long flights from the US East Coast. I would definitely stay here again.
Negative: The power went out one night for several hours. I was told this is very abnormal, and it wasn't just Lumeria, it affected the larger neighborhood. However, when the lights go out in Upcountry Maui, it's so dark you can't see your hand in front of your face. Just a heads up to maybe pack a flashlight or spare phone charger.
