This 1869 Italianate Victorian Home offers 16 acres of hay fields, forest, and a creek. Was once home to a large nature and exploration-based homeschool cooperative.
Although it is on a major road, the property is surrounded by farms, agricultural fields, and dirt roads. Close to Williamstown, Bennington, and MassMOCA (North Adams).
30-60 minutes to VT and MA ski locations (Prospect, Mount Snow, Jiminy Peak, Stratton), and Albany, NY Capitol District.
Pets welcome, small fenced in dog yard although we recommend leashing and tethering (we provide a stake and line).
Four sleeping areas (2 kings, 2 fulls, 2 twins, two full couches, cots available on request, feel free to bring air mattresses for extra guests). Perfect for a shared vacation with another family. Can comfortably sleep 8 adults with bed sharing, with options for additional children. 2 working fireplaces. 4500 sq ft. of space, it's a beast!
I created this space as something I would have loved a few years ago when my children were smaller. I understand that for families to be comfortable on vacation, a space needs to be laid-back, open-ended, and user friendly. "Waldorf" style playroom with wooden and natural material open-ended toys. Also a "chalkboard room" for working on crafts. Draw on the chalkboard wall! Explore the creek, and the woods. Beehives on the property. Lots of opportunity to get really dirty and explore. Hiking, fishing, swimming, snowshoeing, sledding, skating, etc... all within minutes of this home.
**This house is always being updated. So there will always be quirks and small unfinished aspects of it. For instance, we are updating all of the electrical, so some of the outlets don't work. There are cracks in some of the old plaster walls, and some trim is missing. This is a rural/country environment...so there is mud, puddles, bugs, and dogs barking in the distance (and sometimes packs of coy dogs wailing at night). Bring your boots and changes of clothes for when your kids get dirty (they will!). If you like a more refined and sterile environment, this isn't for you!

Access to the entire first floor and two bedrooms upstairs. Has a large open space with mudroom, kitchen, living room, and dining room. Two sleeping spaces downstairs as well as the playroom and the chalkboard/craft room. Full bath downstairs. One bedroom with a King bed, bedroom with 2 fulls and one twin upstairs and a half bath. Two private bedrooms are also upstairs, and are locked.
We are open to hosting larger events if families want to come and pitch tents, etc.. but would need to make those arrangements personally and cannot be automatically booked. Reach out if that is what you are interested in. We are also open to creating a custom rate for special events.
