The Space:
As you approach the house, enjoy the lush, mature landscaping. Surrounded by trees and various flowering shrubs, the rustic elegance of the grounds is magnetic.
Just off of the front door is a charming screened porch, perfect for observing nature while enjoying coffee or cocktails in the more mild seasons.
Enter into the spacious welcome of the open living room, which feels cozy yet spacious thanks to a combination of high ceilings and plenty of wood flooring and paneling. A blend of contemporary and antique furniture brings to mind the home’s history as well as its present comfort. The large central fireplace invites gathering and catching up in front of the hearth during cooler months.
Straight ahead, the kitchen welcomes you with natural light and a lovely view of the backyard. A convenient half bath sits just off the kitchen, and a spacious dining cove is nestled just beyond the island.
Just past the kitchen is a well appointed laundry area, as well as a door out to the generous stone patio. Just beyond is a snug media room, which doubles as an excellent reading area or a spot to enjoy views of the back garden.
Moving upstairs, a window at the end of the hallway beckons you to check out another lovely view, which leads past two bedrooms.
The first is cheery and flooded with light, hosting a twin daybed and whimsical decor.
The second bedroom features a queen bed and some lovely antique furnishings. The room’s warm pink trim gives it a rose quartz glow thanks to large windows and plenty of light.
Across the landing, a full bath mimics the surrounding nature with dark green tile and warm wood. A combination shower and jetted tub is sure to aid in unwinding.
Around the corner, the primary suite is anchored by an iron framed Queen bed facing a full wall of windows, allowing nature to provide much of this room’s artwork. Warm sage green accents bring a calm to the space. The armoire conceals a television, should you wish to catch up on a favorite series from the comfort of your bed.
The adjoining bath comforts in tones of soft sand and warm wood. The shower stands separate from the soaking tub, bringing an open, uncluttered feeling to the space.
The grounds offer their own delights, including a large trampoline, expansive patio and grill, perfect for a full al fresco evening, and a firepit in its own enclave, adjacent to the woodland.

There is so much to enjoy nearby, including candlelit dinner at the Old Inn on the Green, breakfast at the Southfield Store (also a great place for a quick coffee and picking up local provisions), and many hikes and nature spots. Not far from Southfield is Umpachene Falls–an excellent destination for hiking and swimming.
Hotchkiss Hollow is also close to both Sheffield and Great Barrington which have several grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, yoga, and more. You're also close to hiking and cultural institutions.
Getting Around:
To enjoy the expansive beauty of the region, you'll need a car to get here and get around--and the drive will be stunning! Since cell service can be inconsistent in the country, we recommend that you download the region's online maps to your phone before your trip.
We strongly advise using or renting a car that has all wheel or 4 wheel drive to access the property, especially in the colder months.

We urge guests to pay close attention when enjoying nature, as weather can change quickly and wild animals can be surprising. Because temperatures in the mountains can fluctuate widely, even in the height of summer, we recommend packing sweaters and light, cold-weather gear just in case. Depending on the activities you plan, we recommend packing hiking, running, swimming, horseback riding, and/or running gear. We also recommend that guests consider spraying clothes with Permethrin when walking outside, to help avoid ticks. In winter we recommend guests pack several layers of warm clothing and ensure that their vehicles are ready for potential snowfall. For other clothing, most venues around are very casual.
