The space
* Roosevelt National Forest lies to the north and the south with more hiking than you can imagine. Buying a Colorado hunting and/or fishing license allows your whole group to hike there eleven months of the year. Some people even bring their mountain bikes and ride the USFS roads up the way. Expect quite a challenge!
* Wild brown and brook trout cruise Trail Creek that runs through the valley. We ask that you catch-and- release to keep the fishing quality high.
* Pack the picnic basket & have an adventure
* Call us to ask about cross-country skiing conditions. We really don't have much show in the winter but once in a while we get lucky! Our rolling hills are perfect for it. We give a free ski lesson for beginners.
* Throw your sleeping bags out on the hill or the deck, watch a million stars, serenaded by coyotes and the creek.
* Fish the North Fork of the Poudre, trailhead starting 1/2 mile east. It's catch and release or drive to the Upper Unit of the Game & Fish and Sheep Creek for even more miles of river & creek. These you can keep if you like.
*Magnificent sunrises & glorious sunsets
*Meditate and do yoga on any of the many rock formations
*Numerous species of wild birds & animals found in the foothills of Colorado- birdhouses in the summer & hummingbird feeders tempt the little tykes. Bring sugar to make your own syrup. The recipe is 4 parts water and 1 part sugar.
* Explore the hoodoos (granite boulders) that are on the cabin hillside
* Comfy vintage outdoor furniture awaits you after your day of exploring the foothills
*Get a workout playing cornhole, horseshoes and badminton.
* Kite flying is great south of the creek with plenty of room to launch and few trees.
*Star-spangled nights. There are meteor showers almost every month of the year- some will blow you away!

The nearly 375 square foot sleeping loft has 1 set of big room-dividing curtains and 1 set of privacy curtains which can separate the twin beds, the full bed and the queen bed. Draw for privacy if you like. They block light between beds & buffer noise. The sun will get you up in this solar house so ask for eye masks if you like.

*You not only get the run of the cabin but 190 private acres are just outside your door and Roosevelt National Forest on Goat Mountain to the south.
Hike Roosevelt National Forest is across the road to the north (we'll describe to trail when you get here).
NOTE: Between September 1st and May 1st, in order to use the Colorado Parks and Wildlife property across the road, you must have a fishing (From $55.00 to $95.00 Non-Resident Annual Fishing License. From $20.00 to $30.00 Five Day Fishing License. From $8.00 to $15.00 One Day Fishing License. $5.00 Additional Day Fishing License) or hunting license (Resident Colorado Small Game License Cost

From May 1st to September 1st one can hike. Dogs must be leashed there. Call us if you have any questions.
*Incredible views of the ponderosa pines of Goat Mountain, the open space of Cherokee Park and the sound of Trail Creek as it meanders through the hay meadows. Come down & watch Lars put up hay in July and August.
* Explore the hoodoos (granite boulders) that are on the cabin hillside
* September until early November, enjoy the sights & sounds of the neighboring herd of 20-30 guest ranch horses are on vacation and graze the property- free range. Please don't feed the horses.

Other things to note
* For the safety and well-being of all our guests and ourselves, we have stepped up our cleaning regimen.
* Snowy Range Ski Area is only an hour and a half from here boasting 5 lifts and the cheapest lift prices around. Don't battle the hours spent in I-70 traffic!
*Dogs incur a refundable $50 check at check in. If there are no hairs on furniture, no scratches on doors or furniture and no damage, we will tear up or return the check.

Getting around
The Cherokee Park Road is gravel and is usually well maintained. Take your time. It's beautiful! If you have concerns feel free to check with us before you leave. This is Colorado and we do get some snow in the winter. AWD or 4 wheel drive with snow tires is the most reliable. If we get a big storm on the dates you have chosen and want to change dates, that is perfectly fine with us.
