The Earthship is an amazing place to reset, reflect, and create. Designed with a 'slow' pace in mind, our hope is that you enjoy every part of your stay; from making coffee by drip in the morning, choosing the perfect music to put on Sonos as the sun sets, listening to the creek at the bonfire, or just relaxing in the wood fired sauna.
This is an off-grid home, but don't let the term off grid fool you. This home has all the modern amenities; fast fiber optic internet with WiFi, Smart TV, large refrigerator/freezer, oven/range and washer and dryer.
This home sleeps 4. We provide 1 king bed and 1 queen bed; the king bed is located in the bedroom and the queen can be set up in the living room. The bed in the living room is set up upon request only.
The property is 20 acres within the greater Yellowstone Park ecosystem and offers a one mile mountain bike/hiking trail, miles of nordic skiing/snowshoeing right outside the door, two developed and potable spring water dispensaries, wood fired sauna, fire pit, an abundance of wildlife all year, rainbows, and full moons.
The earthship is a totally off grid house that catches its own rain water, generates its own electricity, and passively moderates its own temperature all year round without the use of a furnace.
The sun is the main source of heat. The home is positioned in a direction to catch the suns rays. The sun heats the concrete floor and radiates that heat all day/night long. The temp will fluctuate between 60 to 70 degrees all by itself all day and night, summer or winter. The home is built around the earth and does not get much below 60 degrees no matter what the temperature is outside. The wood stove is a supplement heat source, and can bring the inside temp at night to almost 80. You will be very comfortable during your stay.
During the winter, a 4-wheel drive vehicle is required while staying at this incredible home. In summer, you will still want a vehicle to get around Big Sky and visit Yellowstone Park.
