Depoe Bay is not a large coastal city, but it has fabulous restaurants (try the Dungeness crab cakes at upscale Tidal Raves!), cute shops lining the highway, a marina where you can book ocean-fishing or whale-watching tours, and miles of rugged, rocky coastline where you can watch the ocean crash against the cliffs. Depoe Bay is known as the whale-watching capital of the Oregon Coast (peak season is October through May), so wildlife lovers will be delighted to watch for whales at sea and seals in the harbor. For more options, the take a 15-minute drive south to the much larger Newport and its famous aquarium, or 15 minutes north to the bustling Lincoln City's casino and beautiful beaches.
Step into this updated two-bedroom, two-bathroom house and you will be struck by its charm - the hardwood floors are made of reclaimed wood from an old mill! Have a seat in the comfortable living room and read a book in front of the gas fireplace, watch cable TV, use the DVD player, access the provided streaming Netflix, choose a board game to play together, or use the WiFi to look up tide tables.
Next you will find a lovely dining area where you can enjoy meals together, which you will have no trouble preparing in the full kitchen (completely stocked with appliances and tools). When it's time to head to bed, you have a choice between the first bedroom, which features a new queen-size bed and ocean views, the master bedroom which has a new queen-size bed an attached bathroom, or a comfortable sofabed in the living room. Altogether, this home will accommodate up to six guests (four adults maximum, please).
Outside, a side deck features a bistro table where you will love to sip your morning coffee, and above the garage is a large patio with chairs that is an ideal place to gaze at the ocean, use some binoculars to watch for whales, or sit with a glass of wine and marvel at the spectacular coastal sunsets.
