Positive: This was a beautiful historic house right near the centre of Santillana del Mar. Lots of easy parking on the property. Just a short walk into town. From the front patio, you overlooked the village and the surrounding rural area. It really was a beautiful setting and a privilege to stay in a lovely family historic home. Everyone loved it and said their beds were comfortable and bathrooms were clean. There were 8 of us staying for 3 nights and it was great to have somewhere for all of us to sit and relax. There was ample seating both in and outside and enough bathrooms for everyone to use. Overall we would recommend the house but there were some issues that I think for the price you pay should be rectified by the host.
Negative: For what we paid we were very disappointed with some things. There were 8 adults for 3 nights. We prepared and ate most of our meals here and also relaxed and drank as we were catching up with family we had not seen for a while. There was only 1 extra rubbish bag, one dishwasher tablet and a tiny, and I mean tiny bottle (like 5cm high) of dishwashing liquid. We ran out of this plus toilet paper and had to buy more. We were also missing one bath towel from the bedroom downstairs which I advised the host but did not get a response about this. There was no information given about what to do with the rubbish and again had to contact the host. I think given what we paid which I think for this wonderful home is okay as it is really lovely but they need to make sure these things are provided. Also, the kitchen was well-equipped but some of the cookware was old and needed to be replaced.
