4 Bedroom House

We are offering for rental our large, lovely Berkeley house, walking distance to campus and with a superb view of San Francisco and the Golden Gate, with a big deck (with gas grill, umbrella and heater) and a large beautiful yard. Enjoy drinks or dinner on the deck, looking at the sun set behind Mt Tamalpais and the Golden Gate Bridge. It's a 20 minute walk and 10 minute bike ride to the Berkeley campus (we have bikes), minutes on foot from the Berkeley Rose Garden and its tennis courts. It's also a short (10-15 minute) walk to the famous NOSH/"Gourmet Ghetto" of Chez Panisse, the North Berkeley Farmer's Market, the Cheese Board, and other food and shopping. We are on a bus route as well. The house has a Steinway grand piano in the living room, and central air conditioning and heating, with central UV and HEPA 16 air filtration, as well as portable air filter systems. The house also has a solar-powered backup battery, in case of power cuts, and state-of-the-art fibre broadband and mesh wifi, for seamless Wifi.
The house is a large, historic brown shingle (1911) with a lot of local history; the magazine Rolling Stone was founded in its living room. The kitchen was completely renovated in 2010, and features large quartz counters, top-grade appliances and cookware. It is currently set up with 3 bedrooms and 2 full offices/studies (one of which has a full-size futon/couch) plus a playroom which has an additional full-sized futon-bed. The three bedrooms have bathrooms en suite: two share a bathroom through different doors, plus there is a third full bathroom also on the 2nd floor. There is an additional half-bath (toilet) on the main floor.
Parking is easy, on the street, without a permit, or in the driveway, where there is also a Level 2 charger. (We would ask for a utilities supplement to cover vehicle charging if you use it extensively).
The house has a fenced, grassy backyard on two levels, with a raised vegetable bed, as well as a shady hammock and a ping pong table.
Berkeley is across the Bay from San Francisco, about 25 minutes by car to Downtown, about 30 minutes to Marin County (Tiburon, etc.), 1 hour to Pt. Reyes, and 3-4 hours to Yosemite and Lake Tahoe. (SF is a 25 minute BART trip from Berkeley; access to BART by bus, bike, or foot is easy.)
Rent is $4500/month , $500/month discount if you will take care of our two sweet, indoor cats; partial months pro-rated..
