Built in 2008 and designed by Al Platt, one of the Southeast's most beloved architects, this custom residence features an open floor plan with beautiful antique reclaimed white pine floors, exposed timbers, white pine wall paneling and reclaimed hemlock ceilings. The 4 bedroom, 4½ bath home is nestled into over two acres of private forest and is bordered on two sides by protected conservation land.
On the main level, the family room has soaring ceilings and large windows to bring the outside in. Enjoy gorgeous long-range views of the Plott Balsam mountain range while you sit by the large stone fireplace. The dining area is adjacent to the oversized screened porch, which features another stone fireplace as well as plenty of seating. The chef's kitchen connects to both the family room and the screened porch with french doors and boasts Kitchen Aid stainless steel appliances with granite perimeter countertops and rustic knotty hickory cabinetry and island.
Also on the main level is a large master suite with a separate sitting room and gas fireplace. The bathroom features both a shower and tub and double vanities. Just down the hall is a laundry room and 2-car garage.
On the lower level is another large family room with slate flooring and a wet bar with a mini-fridge and microwave. French doors lead out to the porch with a large hot tub on the upper deck. There are three more bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs.
The home is equipped with Wi-Fi along with seven televisions, so you'll never be out of touch!
We are located in the award-winning private community of Balsam Mountain Preserve, one of the lowest density master-planned communities in the entire Southeast. The home features exterior motion light detectors and a driveway security camera, and the community features 24-hour onsite security staff, as well as over thirty five miles of hiking trails, and a fully staffed Nature Center.
An optional temporary membership in the Club at Balsam Mountain Preserve is also available by submitting the required forms and paying the usage fee to the Club at least 7 days before arrival. Club amenities include the beautiful Arnold Palmer Signature golf course, fantastic Equestrian Center, tennis courts, pool and fitness center complex, and onsite dining at Mine Tavern and Summit House restaurant.
You may never want to leave the neighborhood, but if you do, civilization is amazingly close by. Sylva, a charming mountain town with a vibrant downtown, is about 5 minutes from the front entrance. Thanks to nearby Western Carolina University, you'll find grocery stores, health care and lots of restaurants throughout the town. About 15 minutes away is Waynesville, a great town just a bit larger than Sylva with a fabulous downtown along with a performing arts center and numerous art galleries. Cherokee and Harrah's Casino is about 20 minutes away and of course, world-renowned Asheville is less than 40 minutes. All around these towns you'll find incredible outdoor adventures to enjoy - fishing, rafting, hiking and more. We truly have the best of everything here in the western North Carolina mountains!
