Positive: The Cascina is in a lovely setting just outside the town of Asti. It's a picturesque family home run by Giuliana and her husband. We were given a lovely welcome and shown to our rooms which were of a good size with charmingly eclectic linen. Giuliana provided a very nice breakfast of local produce (they keep chickens so there were eggs on offer) and normal continental breakfast options. Coffee/tea options were basic.

Negative: The decor is quite dated so it could be smartened up inside. It felt a bit odd that at night we were left alone in the building as the owners actually live in a house nearby. If there had been an emergency I'm not sure what we'd have done.

Summary: Lovely visit in a typical Italian B&B.
